So...yesterday, I had to high tail it up to Cheyenne and Fort Collins for work and didn't get a chance to drop another lost poem. Here ya go!
Everyday I wake up, man, it's the same old thing
Go to work, punch the clock, I just wanna sing!
This collar on my neck's got me tied down to life
It may be death, who knows, could be joy or strife
I'm so tired of the same old same old
I feel this lame hold stagnates my world like some gray mold
And truth be told, I just wanna run
Feel the light on my face as I bask in the sun
But when I try to go, my master drags me down
Tells me to push and plow and focus on the ground
What I would give to be rid this burden
Stare this yoke in the face beat it down like Tyler Durden
But it doesn't really matter what club I use to fight
My work goes on as day turns to night
Then night turns to day, today I wanna say
"I freaking free from these chains, I can roam away!"
But I see that lock, who holds the key?
I long to be freed from this life of slavery
Misery's just a word, and my stomach is quesy
Looking forward to that time when my yoke is easy
and my burden is light, but that's a long time away
I'll just bide my time and drink the night's away
Lonely is my road and wide is my path
Please God give me a day to say, "I'M FREE AT LAST!"
This poem is a reflection of how I see most people going through life. Shackled and chained to work and their problems. Christ came that people might have joy and an easy yoke. He came to set the captives free. He came to give us the key to set every slave free. Is this how you feel? Are your days like this? There's a man who came to save you and I'd love to tell you about Him.
mm, i think i need reminded daily that there's more to life than my daily, lifeless routine. thanks
