I have been thinking lately about integrity in our society and in particular in business. Defining integrity basically as doing what you say your going to do when you say your going to do it. Not that difficult, right?
How come it seems as though it is a rare breed to find someone who does this? Where has integrity gone? It is sad that when you find someone who meets the basic requirements of integrity today that you are surprised. This isn't even relegated to just a particular area of the country or business. I have found it everywhere.
While this situation is alright for those of us who take pride in having integrity in what we do, I wish that I was the normal here. I wish that my competition would step their games up and do this. I wish that supplier I work with would do this more and more. I wish that husbands and wives would do this more. I wish that pastors and teachers would do this more.
Mostly, this is just a vent as I don't have the answer other than people think more highly of other people. When you respect someone, I believe you will act with integrity towards them. Respect the people with whom you interact. Respect them more than you respect yourself. Our society needs this. Our kids need this.
